REMEMBARANCE

1.     I just wanted to send you all a short email to let you know that we heard yesterday that our beloved Hector Routley has passed away at the age of 93.

2.     Hector served with the Sikh Light Infantry regimental centre in Lahore and with the 1st Battalion at Pune until independence in 1947 having attended OTS Bangalore in 1944.  He was a stalwart servant to our Association, serving as Treasurer for over 30 years and he took great delight in coming out to India to visit the Regiment in 1981 and 1984.  I know that he had many friends out in India and would want to be remembered to everyone.  He retained an abiding love for his old Regiment throughout his life.  Only last October, Hector made it up to London to join us for our reunion lunch.  It is hard to think that we will not see him again.

3.     Hugh Mackay and I will be coming out to India for the regimental reunion in November, so we look forward to seeing you.  It is sad to think that I will not be able to call Hector when I come home to tell him all about our trip, he would have been thrilled.
